Yeast (My Friend & Confidant)

The occasional cocktail (or wine, spirit, or beer).

The juice of life so to speak. By itself, a good thing. Paired with food, a wonderful experience.

Sometimes anyway.

I know a thing or two about the stuff, having been enjoying it for some time. Booze is best when you know something about it, and the more you know, the better off you are (I'm an award winning brewer mind you).

So, read about the stuff. It's easy. There are tons of sources out there (blogs, websites, even (gasp!) books on the subject. It's easy, OK?

Back to my beer....

Feeling Absinthe Minded

This is not the site for ground-breaking news, but absinthe is back (for a few weeks now). The mystical, oft misunderstood drink of artists everywhere. Two brands (Kubler & Lucid) are now for sale in the United States, and I want some.

After being sold our repeatedly at my local liquor store, Lucid is finally in stock. I had it in my hands last night, but couldn't quite take the plunge. At nearly $70 a bottle, I wasn't sure I could do it. Kubler is the bottle I really want. The fine folks over at the Wormwood Society seem to favor it over Lucid.

Here's the thing: Having never had the Green Stuff before, I'm tempted just to buy Lucid & get it over with. Being the impatient person I am, that's probably what I'll do too (I haven't seen Kubler once).

I'll keep you posted.

Stop Reading This Right Now

The obligatory first post (and I'll try to make this as painless as possible):

'Hell's Kitchen Sink'....I thought it sounded original. It's not of course, but about as close to original as I could get without getting sick of thinking about it for too long. I did notice that it's not the first time is has been used as a blog title (the only other blog I found using it appears to have been dormant for 2 years or so), but I'll stick with my choice.

At least for a while.

Stay tuned for the whimsical musings of a self proclaimed 'Gifted Underachiever'.
